Edible and Medicinal Mushrooms Research Center

Preface

Nutritious and medicinal mushrooms such as dancing mushrooms, antrodia mushrooms, bamboo fungus, cordyceps, tremella, and other mushrooms are studied. The agriculture production system will work in alliance with farms and also China Medical University, a leader in the research of advanced medical techniques. We hope to establish this center as a national or global research institute with a unique role. Edible mushrooms are related to the 3 industries of medicine, quality agriculture, and biotechnology that are promoted by the executive yuan and deserve emphasis.

Establishment Goals

The effective use of the university’s and outside research resources combined with the cultivation or edible mushrooms, research on physiological and functional analysis to develop health products and become an all-encompassing Edible and Medicinal Mushrooms Research Center.

Content of Work

A. Cultivation Lab: Cultivate bodies for production research, acid fermentation mycelia

B. Physiological Analysis Lab: Functional analysis of mushroom types, purified polysaccharides

C. Product Development Lab: Development of health and beauty products

 

Projected Benefits

Through the establishment of this center, the university aims to create a complete research team that encompasses production, function, and product development in the aim of establishing mushroom research as a unique characteristic of the school and marking the university as a national research center of mushrooms.
